Andreas David aka Ydna Murd has been playing drums for more than 30 years. He has spend most of his life as a professional musician in Germany where he performed hundreds of shows with a great variety of bands and artists, ranging from Folk and Jazz, to Funk, Fusion, Gospel, Rock and Punk. He has also taught at renowned music schools, among others the Yamaha Music Station and the Hamburg School of Music. He moved to Canada in 2005 and is currently residing in Victoria, B.C.
For the last 10 years he’s been focusing on producing and performing Drum&Bass music. In addition he is running a successful educational online channel (www.youtube.com/Jungleritter) and teaches drum clinics and masterclasses based on this style of music. Ydna has written and published the Breakbeat Guide and the Hi-Hat Master drum books and is a regular workshop writer for the German drum magazine DRUMHEADS as well as the Canadian Drum Magazine Drums etc. He is also an endorser of Eccentric Systems and their Quick Torque Cam and Supernaturals Cymbals.
Ydna has also released a series of D&B play-alongs for Drummers: “Drum&Bass Play-Alongs For The Wicked Drummer”, “The Predator” and “Put The Bass In My Face”.
On stage you can see him perform as a DJing Drummer, where he performs his original electronic music, ranging from Drum&Bass to Neurofunk, Electronica and Dubstep.
His teaching schedule consists of approx. 35 weekly private students as well as skype online lessons with international students through his website www.drumgate.com Ydna Murd is playing a Sonor Ascent drum kit in Iridium Diamond finish and uses Sonor 400 Series hardware and pedals.
